Terra Nova

The Standardized test measures what is considered to be important instructional content. It tests academic attainment and provides valid and reliable comparisons of achievement. These scores are but one tool which indicates how well each student is progressing in school. They are part of a bigger picture. Classroom work and evaluation are as important in measuring performance.

Holy Trinity students are tested in grades 1–8 and the Archdiocese has chosen Terra Nova, The Second Edition Plus which tests the five main content areas of Reading, Language Arts, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. Additionally, five sub tests - word analysis, vocabulary, language mechanics, spelling and mathematics computation are also given. Grades 3, 5, and 7 are given a multiple assessment test. Constructed response items on these tests require students to create their own answers by writing a paragraph, or drawing a graph or model.
