Gerard "Jay" Boyle was raised in Westfield, attended Holy Trinity grammar and high school. He graduated from Assumption College in Worcester, MA and did graduate work at Kean University in special education. Jay was employed at the NJ Commission for the blind and visually impaired in Newark beginning as a teacher and completing his career as the Director of the agency. Jay left state government in 1991 and began a new endeavor in the financial services industry. He was employed at meeker Sharkey Financial Services until 2001, when he joined Acorn Financial based in Roseland, NJ. He specializes in business insurance, long term care planning, estate  and retirement planning 

Jay is a member of St Helen's Parish, has been the Chairman of the Westfield Planning Board and President of the Westfield Optimist Club. He is married to Cindy and his sons are Bryan, Kevin and James.
